BOSTON — Following a collaborative investigation between the Boston Police Department’s Fugitive Unit and the U.S.

Marshal Task Force, 18-year-old Twaldo Baez was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 25.

Baez, a South Boston resident, was apprehended after investigators were able to pinpoint his whereabouts, leading to his capture on the West Coast.

He was wanted on multiple charges stemming from an earlier incident in South Boston, including two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, specifically a firearm.

The initial shooting event took place in the early morning hours of May 22, when Boston police officers from District A-1 (Downtown) received reports of two individuals who had been shot and had independently sought treatment at a local hospital.

Responding to the hospital at approximately 12:05 a.m., the officers learned that the victims had sustained injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.

Further inquiries by the authorities concluded that the altercation leading to the shooting had occurred on Joyce Hayes Way in South Boston.

The subsequent investigation ultimately led to the identification and arrest of Baez several months later.
