SPRINGFIELD — A local woman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cocaine and fentanyl after police found her unresponsive in her vehicle on Fairground Road last month, the Springfield Police Department reported.
Officers responded to a call about a possible overdose near the Springfield Town Highway garage at 6:59 p.m. on Aug. 9.
The vehicle was still in the roadway when officers arrived.
They found Kimberly Duprey unresponsive inside and had to break the driver’s side window to administer Narcan, an emergency treatment for suspected opioid overdoses.
Duprey regained consciousness following the treatment, and officers began their investigation.
Duprey was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI after blood tests from the Vermont Forensic Laboratory confirmed she was allegedly under the influence while operating her vehicle.
A consent search of Duprey’s vehicle led to the discovery of suspected narcotics, which were also sent to the laboratory for analysis.
The results indicated Duprey was in possession of cocaine and fentanyl.
The defendant was issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Nov. 26 to answer to the charges.
