BOSTON — Officers from the Charlestown division of the Boston Police Department arrested a man on firearm and drug charges Wednesday night after a routine traffic stop revealed illegal items in his vehicle.

At approximately 10:18 p.m., on Sept. 25, officers patrolling the area near Terminal Street noticed a car parked in the Little Mystic Boat Ramp lot without a boat or trailer, a violation of the designated “Boat Ramp Parking Only” signage.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers immediately spotted a firearm on the front passenger floorboard.

The occupants were removed from the car and handcuffed for safety.

The weapon, identified as a Glock 22 with a round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine, was determined to belong to 22-year-old Brian Murat of Randolph.

During a search, officers found fourteen individually wrapped plastic bags of crack cocaine on Murat.

The driver of the vehicle was released at the scene without charges.

Murat faces charges including Carrying a Firearm Without a License 2nd Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Subsequent Offense, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B.

His arraignment is scheduled to take place in Charlestown District Court.
