BOSTON — A traffic stop in Dorchester led to the arrest of an Everett man on firearm charges Wednesday evening after police recovered a loaded handgun from his vehicle.
At about 7:47 p.m., officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) pulled over 28-year-old Kenneth Bigsby-Williams for driving the wrong way on Whitfield Street.
After the vehicle hit a curb in a parking lot at 305 Talbot Avenue, officers approached and asked for licenses and registration.
During the stop, officers discovered the vehicle’s registration was suspended, necessitating a tow and a vehicle inventory search.
It was during this search that officers spotted a firearm in the vehicle, prompting Bigsby-Williams to flee on foot.
After a short chase, officers apprehended him near 60 Southern Avenue.
The recovered weapon, a Kimber Micro 9 Crimson, had one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.
Bigsby-Williams, with a previous offense, now faces charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Offense and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
He is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
