EAST WINDSOR — A missing man was found dead in his vehicle by the Connecticut River on Wednesday, according to the East Windsor Police Department.

Ronald Lavoie, 64, was reported missing by a family member on Tuesday at around 9 a.m. and was entered into the COLLECT system as a Silver Alert.

Police disseminated his information and photo on social media and local news outlets.

Lavoie was last seen driving his white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

Despite efforts from patrol officers and detectives to trace Lavoie’s whereabouts through leads from family and friends, he could not be located initially.

The search came to a close when a hiker reported to the police at around 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday that he had found a man unresponsive in a white pickup truck at the edge of the river off North Water Street.

Responding officers and detectives identified the man as the missing Lavoie, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was called to assist in the investigation.

While the investigation is still underway, authorities have indicated that Lavoie’s death does not appear suspicious and there is no perceived threat to the community.
