WESTBROOK — Westbrook Police Department announced the arrest of two individuals Tuesday following an investigation into a series of package thefts at a local senior citizen living facility.

Over 20 incidents of package theft had been reported to authorities, prompting a thorough investigation that led to the execution of a search warrant at the suspects’ residence.

The search resulted in the recovery of numerous stolen items from the facility.

Patricia Gillis, 52, and Charles Tibbetts, 57, were taken into custody with Gillis facing a theft charge and violation of conditions of release.

Tibbetts was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Both are expected to face multiple theft charges as officers continue to catalog the recovered stolen goods, along with other related charges.

Significantly, among the stolen items were essential medications, including insulin crucial for a diabetic resident at the facility.

Police officers were able to identify the rightful owners of some of the medications and swiftly returned them.

The timely recovery of insulin was particularly critical for the patient who had exhausted their supply.

The Westbrook Police Department is processing the evidence and will continue to support the affected residents while the investigation proceeds.
