CUMBERLAND — Earlier today, a 66-year-old Pawtucket man was arrested by the Cumberland Police Department for indecent exposure and possession of child pornography after he reportedly approached female walkers while nude on the Blackstone River bike path.

Thomas Belanger was apprehended by police after patrol and detective units, assisted by Lincoln Police, responded to a call about a fully nude older white male on the bike path.

Belanger, who is suspected of engaging in similar acts in recent weeks, was identified by the complainant and taken into custody without incident.

Chief Matthew J. Benson thanked the individual who reported the incident and praised the efforts of law enforcement in swiftly locating and arresting the suspect.

Benson emphasized the importance of the bike path as a safe recreational space for the community.

The police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying any other potential victims who may have had similar encounters with Belanger or his distinctively set up bicycle, urging anyone with information to contact Detective Joseph Holleran.
