MIDDLEBOROUGH — A man was charged with breaking into a local business in the early hours of Sunday morning after an extensive, multi-jurisdictional investigation, Deputy Police Chief Robert Ferreira reported.

Craig Jolin, 40, who is currently homeless but has previously lived in Middleborough, Lakeville, and Wareham, faces charges of breaking and entering in the nighttime for a felony.

Jolin is scheduled for arraignment Monday in Wareham District Court.

The incident occurred on Sept. 22 around 2:22 a.m. when Middleborough Police, along with investigators from the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) Detectives, conducting surveillance as part of the investigation, heard noises consistent with a break-in at South Middleboro Pizza & Grill on Wareham Street.

Detectives observed a suspect, dressed in all black, fleeing the business shortly after hearing the sounds of forced entry.

Upon inspection, they discovered a damaged window screen, an open window, and open cash registers.

The vehicle seen leaving the scene was stopped at a local gas station, where Jolin was identified as the driver.

He had reportedly changed out of the clothes he wore during the incident.

During a search of the vehicle, detectives found loose cash, a sweatshirt, and a mask.

SEMLEC Detectives have been investigating a series of nighttime break-ins across six communities — Middleborough, Carver, Lakeville, Raynham, Rochester, and Wareham.

Additional charges are anticipated upon the conclusion of the investigation.
