SALISBURY — A local man has been issued a citation for allegedly using his telephone to disturb the peace after making repeated non-emergency calls to 911 and harassing dispatchers, police said.

Cyrus Bedard, 34, of Salisbury, is accused of beginning his disruptive phone calls around 9:10 a.m. on Sept. 22, according to authorities.

Officials stated that Bedard’s calls to emergency services persisted over two days, prompting law enforcement intervention.

The Salisbury Police Department reported that on Sept. 24, Bedard was cited to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division at a future date.

The citation was for disturbing the peace by use of telephone, a violation that can carry penalties if a person is found guilty.

The police reminded the public that 911 is for emergency use only, and misuse of the service can lead to legal consequences.

It was not immediately clear what motivated Bedard to make the non-emergency calls to dispatchers.
