PORTLAND — Portland Police have arrested a local man in connection with a robbery that occurred last year at a gas station on Forest Avenue.
Authorities took 39-year-old Martin Larsen of Portland into custody, charging him with robbery and theft for his alleged involvement in the August 24, 2024 incident.
The robbery took place at the Riverton Gas Station located at 1585 Forest Avenue.
At approximately 2:03 p.m. on that Saturday, an unidentified male entered the gas station wearing a white mask and wielding a baseball bat.
He demanded money from the attendant before fleeing the scene towards Riverton School with an undisclosed sum of cash.
Despite immediate efforts to track the suspect, including the deployment of a K9 unit, police were initially unable to apprehend the individual.
The suspect was described at the time as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with yellow teeth and a brown goatee.
The arrest marks a breakthrough in the case, which had gone cold following the unsuccessful search last year.
The Portland Police Department has not released further details on what led to Larsen’s arrest or the evidence that connected him to the crime.
