QUINCY — On Saturday night, a Quincy man was shot multiple times while driving, which resulted in a car crash, authorities said.
The Quincy Police Department reported that at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 21, patrol units responded to a call of a motor vehicle accident at 240 Willard Street involving a shooting.
Officers found a car with significant damage and the driver trapped inside, suffering from gunshot wounds.
The passenger was unharmed and outside the vehicle when help arrived.
A Quincy Police Officer applied a tourniquet to the injured driver before the Quincy Fire Department extricated the individual using the Jaws of Life.
The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital with serious injuries by Brewster Ambulance.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victims were in the vicinity of Furnace Brook Parkway and Copeland Street when a dark sedan pulled up and opened fire.
The targeted vehicle then drove to Willard Street, where it crashed.
The suspect vehicle fled in an undisclosed direction.
Police believe the victims were specifically targeted and assert there is no general threat to the public.
Detectives are actively investigating and urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Quincy Police Department at 617-745-5718.
