CAMPTON — A Campton man was arrested Thursday evening after being found unconscious in his vehicle from inhaling toxic vapors, according to police.
At 6:16 p.m. on Sept. 20, the Campton Police Department responded to a call on NH Route 49 reporting an unconscious male in a stopped vehicle.
The caller indicated that the man was actively using inhalants before losing consciousness.
Upon arrival, officers found a Chevrolet Silverado partially off the roadway and into a ditch with 51-year-old Sean O’Shea of Thornton unconscious behind the wheel, holding an aerosol can of “Dust Off.” A dog was also found inside the vehicle.
A bystander and witness reported that their vehicle was hit by O’Shea on NH Route 49 during his suspected impaired driving.
O’Shea was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, inhaling toxic vapors for effect, reckless conduct, criminal mischief, and cruelty to animals.
Due to O’Shea’s probation status and the risk to public safety, the Campton Police requested he be held without bail on preventative detention.
However, a bail commissioner released O’Shea to appear in Plymouth Court on Sept. 23.
