Medway man arrested on multiple counts of sexual assault involving a minor

MEDWAY — A local man faces multiple felony charges after being arrested by the Medway Police Department for alleged sexual assault of a child.

Luis Rodrigo Lema-Pomavilla, 23, of 30 Wellington Street, was taken into custody on Sept. 17 after an investigation into reports of isolated incidents.

The charges against Lema-Pomavilla include two counts each of rape of a child with force, aggravated rape of a child with force, statutory rape of a child, and kidnapping.

Additionally, he faces charges of drugging for sexual intercourse, enticement of a child under 16, intimidation of a witness, indecent assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Following his arrest, Lema-Pomavilla was arraigned at Wrentham District Court on Sept. 18 and is currently being held without bail.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 25, during which a determination will be made regarding his potential danger to individuals or the community.

In compliance with Massachusetts General Law and due to the sensitivity of the case, further details about the investigation cannot be disclosed, particularly considering the juvenile status of the victim.

The Medway Police Department praised the work of its detective division, including Detective Sergeant Lauren Swarthout and Detectives Thomas Godino and Christopher Bullen, for their careful and quick response resulting in the arrest.

Acknowledgment was also given to Sergeant Robert O’Neill and Patrol Officers William Freitas, Steven Paschal, and Andrew Harris for their contributions.

Additional thanks were extended to the Milford and Millis Police Departments for their assistance in the investigation, highlighting the importance of interdepartmental collaboration in maintaining community safety.
