HINGHAM — A three-vehicle collision on Route 228 left four people hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries today, according to Hingham Police.
At 12:45 p.m., an SUV heading northbound crossed the center line in the 800 block of Main Street and struck a southbound van, causing it to roll over.
Following the initial impact, the SUV then collided head-on with another southbound SUV.
Authorities reported that the driver of the northbound SUV was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, despite the seatbelt being locked in place, as indicated by photographs from the scene.
Emergency responders transported the injured individuals to a local hospital for treatment.
The Hingham Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
Traffic was affected in the area as cleanup and preliminary investigations were underway.
