BROWNFIELD — Maine State Police and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officials arrested a local man on drug and firearm charges after executing a search warrant at his residence Wednesday morning.
Joey St. Hilaire, 52, faces three counts of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, class A, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, class C.
The arrest is the culmination of several weeks of investigation by the Maine State Police’s Southern Field Troop into illegal firearms possession and drug distribution in York and Oxford counties.
Authorities learned that St. Hilaire, a convicted felon, allegedly possessed several firearms and was involved in distributing illegal drugs.
A search warrant for his home at 7 Fulcher Lane, specifically targeting firearms and ammunition, was obtained.
On Sept. 18 at around 11:30 a.m., agents and troopers approached St. Hilaire in his driveway and detained him without incident before searching his residence.
Initial findings indicative of drug use and trafficking led to a pause in the search and the acquisition of an additional warrant to extend the investigation to include narcotics.
The search yielded two firearms—a loaded 9mm handgun and a rifle—over 500 rounds of ammunition, and a significant quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine, weighing over three and a half pounds and packaged for resale.
Investigators also found scales, packaging materials, and over $25,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at $90,000.
St. Hilaire is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Further details surrounding the case are pending as the investigation continues.
