Rhode Island police arrest seven on drug charges, one for child endangerment

NARRAGANSETT — In a significant operation on Sept. 18, law enforcement agencies including the Rhode Island Detective Bureau, Uniform Bureau, and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted a series of arrests across the state for various drug-related offenses and child endangerment.

David Mercier, 59, and Juliet Gannon, 53, both of Narragansett, were apprehended on charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance Schedule I/II and possession of marijuana in excess of five kilograms.

Additionally, Gannon faces a charge of conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.

John Delauro, 52, of North Scituate, and Marcus Wilcox, 31, of Woonsocket, were also arrested on similar drug charges including the intent to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy.

In a separate case, the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force took into custody Nelson Pires, 26, of Middletown, on charges related to child endangerment and cruelty, stemming from a shooting incident under investigation by the Providence Police Department.

Anthony Ricci, 30, of Lincoln, was arrested on drug charges and presented as a Probation Violator under Rule 32F.

Michael Moreno, 41, of North Providence, faced additional charges for possession with intent to distribute psilocybin mushrooms and possession of crystal methamphetamine.

Finally, Kevin Gannon, 26, of Charlestown, was detained on charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in excess of five kilograms, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

All suspects were processed at the State Police Headquarters and arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, with Ricci also being presented as a probation violator.
