Worcester police probe fatal pedestrian crash with one dead, another injured

WORCESTER — A fatal pedestrian crash in Worcester late Monday night has left one woman dead and another injured, prompting an investigation by the Worcester Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.

At approximately 9:56 p.m. on Sept. 17, police were called to the intersection of Clover St and South Ludlow St where they discovered two female pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle.

Emergency responders provided medical aid at the scene before transporting both victims to a local hospital.

A 35-year-old woman was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The second victim sustained less serious injuries and is receiving treatment.

Initial reports indicate that the vehicle was heading south on South Ludlow St toward Auburn when it hit the two women as they crossed the street.

After the collision with the pedestrians, the vehicle reportedly collided with another car.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Worcester Police Department has not provided further details about the driver or the second vehicle involved in the incident.
