Man arrested at North Springfield gas station for outstanding warrant, cocaine possession

NORTH SPRINGFIELD — A 50-year-old man from Charlestown, New Hampshire, was arrested on Aug. 15 at a local gas station on charges including an outstanding warrant and possession of crack cocaine.

Weathersfield Police Department officers apprehended Steven Bennett at the Citgo Gas Station in North Springfield after recognizing that he had an active warrant for his arrest.

A vehicle stop was conducted and Bennett was taken into custody without incident.

During the search, officers discovered suspected crack cocaine on Bennett’s person.

He was then taken to the Springfield Police Department for processing, which included fingerprinting and photographing.

Bennett has been issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor Criminal Division court on Aug. 19 for the outstanding warrant and a second citation to appear on Oct. 8 for the drug possession charge.

Unable to post the $25,000 bail, he was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility.
