SWANTON — A 26-year-old woman from St. Albans was killed early Sunday morning when her vehicle crashed into trees off Highgate Road, authorities said.
Shelby Adams-Cherrier was driving a 2023 Subaru Forester when Vermont State Police responded to an alert from the vehicle’s crash detection system at 2:28 a.m. near the intersection with Bushey Road.
Missisquoi Valley Rescue and the Swanton Fire Department also arrived at the scene to find the vehicle at rest off the roadway, with Adams-Cherrier pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials reported clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of the incident.
The victim was not wearing a seat belt, and the vehicle sustained total damage.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
