Vermont state police identify family in Pawlet triple homicide

PAWLET — Vermont State Police released the identities of three homicide victims after autopsies were completed by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The deceased have been identified as Brian Crossman Sr., 46; his wife, Erica (Pawlusiak) Crossman, 41; and Erica’s son from a previous relationship, Colin Taft, 13, who was also Brian’s stepson.

The bodies were discovered at their home on Sunday.

According to the medical examiner, Brian Crossman died from gunshot wounds to the head and torso, Erica Crossman sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head, and Colin Taft suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

All deaths were officially ruled homicides.

The investigation by the Vermont State Police remains active, and as of now, no arrests have been made.

State police have not released further details but have committed to providing updates as the investigation unfolds.
