BOURNE — Today at approximately 12:43 p.m., officers from the Bourne Police Department were called to a multi-vehicle collision with injuries on Scenic Highway near Edgehill Road.

Upon arrival, the authorities discovered three vehicles involved in the accident.

A large dog was also found in one of the cars and despite efforts from Bourne’s Department of Natural Resources, the dog did not survive its injuries.

There were two occupants in each of the vehicles.

Bourne Fire and Rescue, assisted by Wareham EMS and Brewster Ambulance, transported four people to local hospitals with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.

Two other individuals involved in the crash declined medical attention.

A preliminary inquiry into the incident indicates that the crash occurred when one of the drivers made an improper left turn from a rest area onto the highway, striking an eastbound vehicle.

The impact forced both vehicles into the westbound lane, resulting in a collision with a third car.

The Bourne Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
