ENFIELD — A joint operation between the Enfield Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Springfield and Hartford Resident Offices, along with the DEA New England Special Response Team, led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man and the seizure of illegal firearms and drugs on Sept. 12.
Authorities executed a search and seizure warrant at an apartment located at 55 Main St., where the suspect, Rahkeem Blakely, reportedly interfered with the warrant’s execution.
The search resulted in the discovery of five illegal handguns, one of which was confirmed stolen, approximately 400 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine, and a large sum of U.S. currency.
Blakely has been charged with multiple offenses including operation of a drug factory, possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, negligent storage of a firearm, interfering with a search warrant, violation of a large capacity magazine ban, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal mischief in the third degree.
Following the investigation, Blakely’s surety bond was set at $2 million.
The Enfield Police Department has not released further details on the operation or the ongoing investigation.
