MILFORD — A Framingham man faces drug trafficking charges after police observed a suspected drug transaction and seized over 18 grams of cocaine during a vehicle stop Wednesday evening.
Laudys Pena, 42, was arrested at approximately 6:41 p.m. after Milford Police detectives conducting surveillance in a known drug activity area witnessed what appeared to be a hand-to-hand transaction, authorities said.
Detectives subsequently stopped a white Honda Pilot at the intersection of Central and Front streets.
A search of the vehicle yielded 18.2 grams of cocaine, according to police.
Pena was taken into custody and charged with trafficking cocaine 18 grams or more but less than 36 grams, and possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute.
He was held on $7,500 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning in Milford District Court.
The arrest was made by members of the Milford Police Detective Bureau as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug activity in the area.
