NAUGATUCK — Police determined a threat of an armed person at Naugatuck High School was not credible after investigating a phone call received by the school Friday morning.

The Naugatuck Police Department responded to the school at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Sept. 13, 2024, after being notified of the threatening call.

Officers and additional resources were immediately dispatched to the area.

Authorities took precautionary measures to ensure the safety and security of the school while investigating the threat.

The incident was later determined to be a “swatting” call, a false report intended to provoke a large law enforcement response.

Police stated there is no threat to the community.

However, an increased police presence will remain at Naugatuck High School for the remainder of the day as a precaution.

The Naugatuck Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the department’s Public Information Officer at [email protected].
