Stabbing near state pier in New London under investigation

NEW LONDON — A man was stabbed near the state pier in New London on Wednesday, suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The incident occurred around 12:23 p.m. in the area of State Pier Road and Cole Street, according to the New London Police Department.

Officers responding to a report of a stabbing found a male victim with serious injuries.

He was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Connecticut State Police have taken over the investigation because the incident occurred on state property, New London police said.

Authorities provided no further details about the circumstances of the stabbing or any potential suspects.

The New London Police Department directed all media inquiries to the Connecticut State Police for additional information as the investigation continues.
