Waterbury police arrest man on drug charges after chase

WATERBURY — A 32-year-old man faces multiple drug charges after attempting to evade police and striking three vehicles Tuesday night.

Andrew Davis of Waterbury was arrested at approximately 10 p.m. Sept. 12 following a brief chase, according to the Waterbury Police Department.

Officers from the department’s Crime Prevention Unit were on patrol in response to recent weapons, narcotics and quality-of-life concerns when they observed a parked vehicle with motor vehicle violations.

Police said Davis, the vehicle’s operator, attempted to flee, striking a police cruiser and two unoccupied vehicles before being apprehended.

During the investigation, officers found Davis in possession of 1 gram of cocaine, 87 bags of heroin and 29.8 grams of crack cocaine, according to police.

Davis also had eight outstanding failure to appear warrants, police said.

He faces charges including possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and interfering with police.

Davis is being held on bond pending arraignment.
