Tewksbury police nab two in liquor store break-in

TEWKSBURY — Two men were arrested and charged with breaking and entering and other crimes after Tewksbury Police responded to a reported burglary at a local liquor store, officials said Thursday.

Miguel Gomes, 21, of Kingston, and Aiden Holgun, 18, of Lynn, were taken into custody following the incident at Smitty’s Liquor, 1091 Main St., late Wednesday night.

According to Chief Ryan Columbus, police arrived at the scene around 11:21 p.m., Sept. 11, after receiving reports of individuals smashing the front door of the establishment.

Officers witnessed one person fleeing and subsequently apprehended Gomes.

Holgun was found departing the scene shortly thereafter and arrested without further incident.

Both Gomes and Holgun face charges including breaking and entering during nighttime, larceny from a building, and vandalizing property.

During the arrest, police recovered several bottles of alcohol from Gomes’s possession, believed to be stolen from the liquor store.

The suspects are scheduled for arraignment in Lowell District Court on Sept. 12.
