Somerville police report series of assaults, robbery, and burglary

SOMERVILLE — A series of violent incidents, including assaults and a robbery, have been reported in Somerville over the past week, according to the local police department.

On Sept. 5 at around 3:54 p.m., officers were called to Mystic Ave after a male victim reported being punched by another man during an altercation.

The assailant allegedly attempted to strike the victim again using brass knuckles.

Police identified the suspect involved in the incident.

The previous day, Sept. 4 at about 8:19 p.m., a juvenile was robbed at the intersection of Broadway and North St. The young victim told police that four masked males stole his backpack.

Somerville Police also responded to a commercial burglary on Highland Ave on Sept. 7 at approximately 7:39 a.m. An employee reported seeing a man inside his office who fled towards the train station.

No items were reported missing from the scene.

In the early hours of Sept. 9, around 1:14 a.m., a woman waiting outside for an Uber on Bow St was confronted by a man who began yelling at her.

When she threatened to call the police, the man slapped her phone from her hand.

Another assault occurred at Dilboy Stadium on Sept. 6 at about 8:05 p.m. Police arrived to find a group of juvenile females fighting near the entrance.

As officers escorted one of the victims out of the stadium, she was attacked by three other females, who have since been identified by the authorities.

In addition to the violent crimes, the Somerville Police Department reported two bike thefts, five package thefts, four car break-ins, and two instances of motor vehicle vandalism.

The police are actively investigating all incidents and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
