Brattleboro woman arrested for credit card fraud, petit larceny

WESTMINSTER — The Windham County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Brattleboro woman on charges of false pretenses/tokens and petit larceny related to a credit card fraud incident.

Authorities received a complaint on Aug. 26 from a Westminster resident who reported unauthorized use of their credit card and missing funds.

Detective Sergeant M. Checchi led the investigation, which identified 37-year-old Tara Villeneuve as the suspect.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Villeneuve had an outstanding arrest warrant for unrelated charges.

Deputies apprehended Villeneuve at Great River Terrace in Brattleboro on Aug. 28.

Villeneuve was issued a criminal citation to appear in court on Oct. 1 and was taken to the Superior Court of Vermont-Criminal Division-Windham Unit for arraignment.

No bail information has been provided.
