Rhode Island troopers make multiple arrests over the weekend

PROVIDENCE — A series of traffic stops by Rhode Island State Troopers over the weekend resulted in multiple arrests for various offenses, including driving without a license, robbery, arson, DUI, shoplifting, obstruction, and receiving stolen goods.

At 10:07 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, troopers arrested Todd K. Moore, 33, of Providence, on a bench warrant for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving without a license, marking his fourth or subsequent offense.

The arrest followed a vehicle stop on Prairie Avenue.

Later that morning, at 11:53 a.m., Milton J. Thomas Jr., 54, of Pawtucket, was arrested on two bench warrants for failing to appear for restitution payments on charges of first-degree robbery and fourth-degree arson.

Thomas was apprehended during a stop on Junction Street and later taken to the Adult Correctional Institution Intake Center.

At 10:54 a.m., Cristofer Sutuj Cavinal, 43, of Providence, was arrested for driving under the influence.

The arrest occurred after a stop on Westminster Street.

Sutuj Cavinal was released into the custody of a responsible adult pending his arraignment.

In the afternoon, at 3:54 p.m., Matthew Fontaine, 38, of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, was arrested on a warrant for shoplifting following a stop on Roosvelt Avenue in Central Falls.

He was processed and transferred to the Cumberland Police Department.

The final arrest of the day, at 11:43 p.m., involved Malique R. Griffin, 21, of Providence, who was charged with obstructing a police officer and for failing to appear for a pre-trial conference on a domestic violence charge.

Griffin was held overnight pending arraignment as a probation or bail violator.

On Monday, Sept. 9, at 1:02 a.m., troopers arrested Xavier L. Barros, 22, of Pawtucket, for receiving stolen goods.

Further details on Barros’s arrest were not immediately provided.

These individuals were processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, with several facing arraignment at the Sixth Division District Court on future dates.

The Rhode Island State Police continue to actively enforce the law to ensure public safety on the roads.
