BETHEL — A single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning resulted in the death of a Plainfield woman and minor injuries to a passenger, Vermont State Police reported.
Lindsay A. Holt, 41, was driving a 2004 Toyota Tundra northbound on I-89 when the truck veered off the road near mile marker 26.2 and struck a tree in the median around 5:34 a.m.
Holt, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene from the injuries sustained in the crash.
Her passenger, Justin L. Jeror, 45, of Enfield, New Hampshire, also wearing a seatbelt, sustained minimal injuries and was transported to Gifford Medical Center in Randolph for treatment.
The incident occurred under cloudy and dark conditions, but the road was dry at the time of the accident.
Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Royalton Barracks responded to the crash, along with EMS personnel.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, White River Valley Ambulance, and East Randolph Fire Department provided assistance at the scene.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the vehicle went off the roadway and collided with a tree.
An ongoing investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
