TEWKSBURY — Two Lawrence residents were arrested on drug charges Thursday night after a Tewksbury Police Department investigation led to the discovery of large quantities of fentanyl and other narcotics.
Lucitania Siprian, 29, and Dionicio Confesor Arias Cruz, 44, were taken into custody on charges related to drug trafficking and conspiracy.
Chief Ryan Columbus announced that the arrests were the result of a coordinated effort to crack down on drug distribution in the area.
According to police reports, Arias Cruz was arrested at approximately 7:11 p.m. on Sept. 5 after he was observed selling about 42.2 grams of fentanyl on Ames Hill Drive.
Siprian, who was a passenger in Arias Cruz’s vehicle at the time of his arrest, was also taken into custody.
Officers executed a search warrant on Arias Cruz’s vehicle and recovered over $300 in cash.
Charges against Arias Cruz include trafficking in more than 36 grams of a Class A drug, distribution of a Class A drug, multiple counts of trafficking in more than 10 grams of fentanyl, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and conspiracy to violate drug law.
Siprian faces charges of conspiracy to violate drug law and trafficking in more than 36 grams of a Class A drug.
Both individuals also received an immigration detainer from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
Arias Cruz and Siprian were arraigned in Lowell District Court on Friday, Sept. 6, and are being held on $15,000 bail.
