Pelham police make five arrests in under two hours

PELHAM — A busy evening shift for Pelham police resulted in five arrests for various offenses in less than two hours last night, with the first few incidents occurring shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Officers responded to reports of four motorcycles racing down Keyes Hill Road at speeds exceeding 70 mph.

When an officer attempted to stop the group, only one motorcyclist, identified as Mihailo Mrkalj of Revere, Massachusetts, complied.

Mrkalj was charged with Reckless Operation.

The pursuit continued as another officer located two of the fleeing motorcycles on Tallant Road, managing to stop them.

Andrei Capi of Lowell, Massachusetts, was arrested and charged with Reckless Operation and Disobeying an Officer.

Bradley Winters of Lexington, Massachusetts, faced charges of Reckless Operation, Disobeying an Officer, and Operating a Motorcycle Without a Motorcycle License.

The fourth motorcycle was not located.

At 8:17 p.m., a domestic disturbance at a local residence led to the arrest of Kaila Sweetser of Pelham, who was charged with Domestic Violence Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest.

Later, at 9:27 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle with a flat tire at the intersection of Mammoth Road and Marsh Road.

The vehicle’s operator, Catherine Clegg of Pelham, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Defective Equipment.

The Pelham Police Department noted that officers attended to several other calls for service during this time.
