Providence task forces make multiple arrests

PROVIDENCE — In a coordinated effort on Sept. 5, law enforcement officials from the Auto Theft and Intelligence Units, the Violent Fugitive Task Force, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force apprehended three individuals on various charges including fraud, forgery, and possession of child pornography.

Genesis Cabrera Vargas, 29, and Leonaldy Lopez Del Rosario, 32, were both arrested at their respective Providence residences.

They face charges of obtaining money under false pretenses, tampering with odometers, forgery, conspiracy, and counterfeiting of registration plates.

Following their arrests, Vargas and Del Rosario were processed at police headquarters and appeared for arraignment in the Sixth District Court.

In a separate arrest, Brandan Ryl, 24, was taken into custody and charged with possession of child pornography and cruelty to animals.

Ryl was processed at the Lincoln Barracks before his arraignment in court.

The Honorable Associate Judge Isherwood set Ryl’s bail at $5,000 with special conditions that include restricted Internet access and no unsupervised contact with minors.

Ryl is also being held as a probation violator on original charges that include possession of Schedule I-V substances and possession of a firearm.
