Man dies in apparent drowning at Jenness Pond in Northwood

NORTHWOOD — An adult male died in an apparent drowning at Jenness Pond on Monday, according to New Hampshire State Police.

George Chapman, 68, of Concord, was found unresponsive in the water in front of a camp at approximately 5:37 p.m., Marine Patrol officials said.

A family member discovered Chapman and immediately called 911 before beginning life-saving measures.

Emergency personnel continued resuscitation efforts upon arrival, but Chapman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial investigation suggests Chapman may have experienced a medical episode before falling into the water from a dock, authorities said.

Marine Patrol responded to the residence on Jenness Pond after receiving a report of a drowning.

They were assisted by Northwood Police Department, Northwood Fire and Rescue Department, Pittsfield Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol is leading the investigation into the incident.
