Guilford man arrested for possession of child pornography

GUILFORD — A Guilford man has been arrested and charged with first-degree possession of child pornography following a cooperative investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

Guilford Police, in collaboration with Branford Police, Connecticut State Police, and Homeland Security, executed a search warrant at the home of Matthew Norman, 42, on March 29 after being tipped off by Plainville Police in early January.

The search resulted in the seizure of numerous items of evidence.

The investigation confirmed that Norman was in possession of a significant amount of child pornography.

An arrest warrant was issued on Sept. 4 with a court-set bond of $250,000.

Norman was taken into custody without incident at his workplace in Branford.

Norman is scheduled for arraignment on Sept. 5 at the New Haven Superior Court.

The Guilford Police Department acknowledged the complexity of cyber investigations and the extensive time and effort required to conduct them.

They expressed gratitude for the support and assistance from the Department of Homeland Security, Branford Police Department, Connecticut State Forensic Laboratory, Plainville Police Department, and the Office of the State’s Attorney – Judicial District of New Haven in this case.

The department also thanked the Guilford community for their ongoing support and partnership, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in maintaining public safety.
