Theft of donation jar from Guilford bake sale under investigation

GUILFORD — A local nonprofit organization’s bake sale was marred by theft on Sept. 1 when an unknown suspect stole a donation jar, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the Westminster Barracks responded to the Guilford Welcome Center after reports that a Caucasian male, approximately 6 feet tall with a slim build, snatched the jar around 2:40 p.m.

The man, who was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, fled on foot to a dark-colored sedan parked on Broad Brook Road.

The bake sale, organized by Brattleboro Time Trade, was intended to support community initiatives.

The amount of money in the donation jar at the time of the theft was not disclosed.

Authorities are now asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
