SHREWSBURY — A Shrewsbury Police Department cruiser was involved in a rollover crash at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Aug. 31, as officers responded to an emergency call with activated lights and sirens.

The incident occurred when the police vehicle, carrying two officers, was crossing the Rt. 9 intersection on Oak Street Northbound and collided with a westbound gray 2020 Subaru Outback.

The impact caused the cruiser to flip and come to rest on its roof.

Both Shrewsbury officers managed to exit the overturned vehicle and, along with two occupants from the Subaru, were transported to UMass Hospital.

All individuals sustained non-life threatening injuries.

In addition to the two vehicles’ occupants, a third passenger from the Subaru was involved in the ordeal but did not require hospitalization.

The Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) crash reconstruction team, along with officers from neighboring areas, were dispatched to the scene to investigate the collision.

As the investigation continues, the Shrewsbury Police Department acknowledges the community’s goodwill, expressing thanks to several good Samaritans who provided aid to both the officers and the Subaru occupants during the aftermath of the crash.
