EPPING — A 70-year-old Florida woman died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 101 West early Friday morning, New Hampshire State Police said.

Patricia Strohman of The Villages, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene after her 2015 Nissan Rogue left the highway and struck a cement bridge abutment at the Martin Road overpass around 1:55 a.m., according to authorities.

Troopers from the Troop A barracks responded to reports of the crash and found Strohman heavily entrapped in the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation indicates she lost control of the Nissan for reasons still under investigation, causing it to veer off the right side of the highway and travel several hundred feet along a grassy embankment before impact.

The westbound lanes of Route 101 were closed for approximately three and a half hours, with traffic diverted off Exit 7 until the scene was cleared at 5:35 a.m.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Epping Police Department, Raymond Police Department, Epping Fire Department, Brentwood Fire Department, and Exeter Hospital Paramedics Advanced Life Support Unit.

The crash remains under investigation by Trooper Clark Brighton.
