Willimantic police investigate alleged kidnapping, suspects at large

WILLIMANTIC — Following a distressing 911 call at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 28, Willimantic Police Department launched an investigation into an alleged kidnapping at Chuckey’s Gas Station located at the junction of Ash and Jackson Streets.

The caller reported observing an adult female being assaulted and abducted by two male suspects in a white vehicle.

The suspects were then seen leaving the scene in a black vehicle, the caller providing detailed descriptions of the individuals, the vehicles, and the direction of escape.

Police officers located and pursued the black vehicle as it sped through Windham and into Scotland, eventually terminating the chase due to high speeds, traffic conditions, and the proximity to local school zones.

The victim was swiftly identified, and neighboring police departments were notified.

Further investigation led to the discovery of the victim and her white vehicle at another gas station in Willimantic.

Upon interview, the victim admitted involvement but became uncooperative and left the premises.

Currently, no arrests have been made, but the male suspects have been identified, with charges anticipated.

Authorities have assured the public that this was an isolated incident among acquainted parties and that there is no broader danger to the community.
