HUBBARDTON — Vermont State Police have cited a local man for reckless endangerment following two separate incidents involving gunfire near other individuals.
David L. Barker, 78, of Hubbardton, is accused of firing a weapon in the direction of another person on two occasions, once on Aug. 4 and again on Aug. 28.
Police responded to the most recent incident around 5:25 p.m. on Aug. 28 after reports of bullets being shot towards the residence of Leland Hill Jr., 37, also a Hubbardton resident.
In the first incident, Hill was using an ATV trail on his property when he heard bullets passing nearby and noticed Barker outside his residence with a firearm.
The second incident involved bullets flying across Monument Hill Road from Barker’s property to Hill’s home, which was occupied by multiple people at the time.
Following these events, Barker has been issued a citation to appear at the Vermont Superior Court Rutland Criminal Division on a later date to face charges.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
