Theft spree at Waterbury country club prompts police investigation

WATERBURY — Several thefts from motor vehicles at The Country Club of Vermont have prompted an investigation by the Vermont State Police, authorities said Tuesday.

The incidents were reported on August 27, with the thefts believed to have occurred on August 25.

According to police, numerous financial institution cards were stolen from motor vehicles parked at the club located at 2800 Country Club Rd and subsequently used for purchases totaling over $8,000 at local stores.

A similar incident was reported earlier in the month on August 14, also involving theft from vehicles at the same location.

The Vermont State Police – Berlin Barracks are conducting an active and ongoing investigation into the thefts.

Troopers are seeking assistance from the public and encourage anyone with information to contact Trooper Mae Murdock at (802) 229-9191.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at the Vermont State Police website.

Authorities are also reaching out to potential victims of similar incidents at the country club in August to come forward with any information that could aid the investigation.
