Sturbridge police locate individual in crisis, provide services

STURBRIDGE — An individual experiencing a mental health crisis was located earlier this evening after a search by Sturbridge Police, in cooperation with State Police and multiple other departments, around the Westville Dam area.

According to the Sturbridge Police Department, there was credible information suggesting that the individual had been picked up from the area and was no longer in Sturbridge.

Following the lead, the police have since cleared the scene.

A regional Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert had been issued for the individual with the intent to check on their well-being.

The Sturbridge Police Department has confirmed that the party is now being provided with appropriate services.

Chief Earl Dessert reassures the community that the situation has been safely resolved and extends gratitude to all the agencies involved in the search and resolution of this incident.
