READING — A Roxbury man was arrested earlier this month on charges of breaking and entering and attempting to commit a crime, according to the Reading Police Department.

Geno Abernathy, 22, faces charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit a larceny or felony and attempting to commit a crime.

The arrest followed an incident on Thursday, Aug. 8, when officers were called to 51 Putnam Road after reports of a man appearing to look into cars.

Residents of the neighborhood reported seeing an unknown individual peering into and entering vehicles.

One neighbor claimed that several items had been stolen from their car’s center console.

Officers obtained a description of the suspect, which led to the identification of Abernathy as the alleged perpetrator.

During a search of Abernathy, officers found items that matched the description of the missing property.

Abernathy was taken into custody without incident and arraigned on Aug. 9 in Woburn District Court.
