East Hampton man arrested for illegal cannabis possession and manufacture

EAST HAMPTON — A local man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for possessing and manufacturing cannabis beyond legal limits, according to the East Hampton Police Department.

Miguel Sebastiao, 63, of 80 Mott Hill Rd., was taken into custody at about 1:34 p.m. after police discovered 57.8 pounds of cannabis plants at his residence.

Sebastiao faces charges for exceeding the legal possession limit of 5 ounces, and for illegal manufacture of cannabis.

Following his arrest, Sebastiao was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.

He is scheduled to appear before the Middletown Superior Court on Sept. 10.
