PORTSMOUTH — A single-vehicle crash on the Exit 3 on-ramp to Interstate 95 North resulted in a DUI arrest early Monday morning.

State Troopers from Troop A barracks responded to the scene at approximately 1:53 a.m. after receiving reports of the accident.

The driver, identified as Michael Tardiff, 40, of Holden, Maine, lost control of his 2005 Honda Accord while navigating a curve on the ramp.

The vehicle veered off the road into thick brush and struck a tree.

Tardiff and two passengers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

Following the crash, Tardiff was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and Reckless Operation.

He was granted personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth District Court on Sept. 11.

The on-ramp was closed for approximately two hours as authorities cleared the scene, with traffic resuming at 3:41 a.m. Assistance at the scene was provided by the Portsmouth Police Department, Portsmouth Fire Department, and National Wrecker Service.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Trooper Kevin P. Ledoux at [email protected].
