DORCHESTER — A motorcycle crash on Route 118 claimed the life of a 23-year-old Meredith woman on Saturday, authorities said.

State Troopers from Troop F barracks responded to the scene around 5:07 p.m. after a motorcycle traveling eastbound failed to negotiate a turn, veered across the center line, and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

The passenger of the motorcycle, identified as Madeline Tredo, died from injuries sustained in the accident.

The operators of both the motorcycle and the vehicle received care at the scene from emergency personnel, including members of the Canaan Police Department, Rumney Fire Department, Cannan Fire Department, Warren-Wentworth EMS, and Stewarts Ambulance.

The crash prompted the closure of Route 118 for several hours as the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation.

As the inquiry into the crash’s exact cause continues, State Police are urging anyone with information to contact Trooper Vargas Vargas at (603) 846-3333 or via email at [email protected].
