LONDONDERRY — A 17-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 93 this afternoon, according to New Hampshire State Police.

The crash occurred at 2:47 p.m. today, Aug. 23, when a gray 2008 Mercury Milan driven by the teenager veered off the southbound lanes of I-93 near mile marker 14 and collided with several trees.

The collision led to a complete closure of the interstate for a short duration, with traffic eventually reduced to two lanes for about four hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the accident site.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
