Man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Arrowsic

ARROWSIC — A 45-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash when his car struck a tree on Old Stage Road, authorities said Thursday.

Jeremy Beane of Arrowsic was driving a 1979 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Old Stage Road at 6:44 p.m. when he lost control, went off the roadway, and collided with a tree, according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.

Bystanders pulled Beane from the vehicle and attempted life-saving measures.

Rescue personnel continued emergency care upon arrival but Beane died from his injuries at the scene.

Corporal Michael Fitzpatrick is leading the ongoing investigation, with crash reconstruction being carried out by Detective Brian Carlton of the Sheriff’s Office.

Arrowsic Fire & Rescue, assisted by Bath Fire & Rescue, responded to the emergency call.

The section of Old Stage Road where the accident occurred was closed for approximately two and a half hours during the investigation.
