HINESBURG — A 37-year-old Hinesburg man was taken into custody Wednesday after a week-long investigation into several threatening text messages led Vermont State Police to his residence on Hillview Terrace.

Authorities executed a search warrant at approximately 5 p.m. at the home of Joseph Robar, arresting him on charges of stalking, criminal threatening, violation of conditions of release, disturbing peace by use of telephone or electronic communication, and obstruction of justice.

The investigation began on Aug. 14 when Vermont State Police received reports of threatening messages being sent to an undisclosed victim, whose identity is protected due to the nature of the alleged crimes.

Robar, who was apprehended without incident, has been held without bail at the Northwest Correctional Facility.

The operation included the Vermont State Police Tactical Services Unit, Crisis Negotiation Unit, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program, and Bomb Squad.
